rPlus Energies tapped to build largest solar project in Idaho Power system

by admin

rPlus Energies announced that it has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Idaho Power to build a new 200MW solar facility in Ada County, Idaho. The project, named Pleasant Valley Solar, is currently the largest contract solar facility in the Idaho Power System.

The project is expected to utilize a number of local vendors during construction, generating significant revenue for the region, benefiting local businesses, and creating approximately 220 construction-related jobs.

“Idaho is blessed with abundant sunshine and we at rPlus Energies are proud to help the state achieve a common sense approach to energy independence and make the most of its abundant energy sources. We are doing it,” said Luigi Resta, President and CEO of rPlus Energies. “The Pleasant Valley Solar Project will play a key role in providing reliable and resilient renewable energy while bringing strong economic growth and job opportunities to the state.”

The Pleasant Valley Solar Project obtained its PPA through a negotiation process with Meta (formerly Facebook) and Idaho Power. The PPA is the result of a joint effort between Meta and Idaho Power to develop a special energy service agreement that will allow Meta access to renewable energy to support local operations. The project will power the Idaho power system and contribute to Meta’s goal of supporting 100% of its operations with renewable energy. Specifically, the output from the project will go to the same grid that supports Meta’s new data center in Kuna, Idaho.

“This is an important milestone for Idaho Power,” said Lisa Grow, president and CEO of Idaho Power. “Not only will Pleasant Valley be the largest solar project on our system, but our proposed Clean Energy Your Way program will partner with customers to achieve their clean energy goals. As a clean energy future takes shape in Idaho, including Idaho Power’s own goal of providing customers with 100% clean energy by 2045, We look forward to working with Meta.”

rPlus Energies has selected Sundt Renewables to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services to Pleasant Valley Solar.
Construction is scheduled to begin later this year.
