So much data, so little time.

The plight of the modern electric utility is a bit of a champagne problem. As demand increases, the grid is getting smarter and smarter at the edge, granting utilities previously unimaginably granular insights into their systems. But how can a rapidly modernizing, workforce-constrained industry be expected to make sense of so much information in a timely fashion?

Cleantech software company envelio Inc. believes it can help with that.

Envelio recently announced a partnership with Clean Power Research, integrating the former’s Intelligent Grid Platform (IGP) with the latter’s workflow automation software, PowerClerk. The resulting solution can be leveraged by utilities to do everything from automating interconnection workflows to reducing project approval times and enhancing grid transparency.

“We have some customers reduce their workload by 90%. We handle thousands of interconnections automatically,” envelio CEO Luigi Montana shared with Factor This at DISTRIBUTECH (DTECH).

Envelio, which was founded in Germany, recently landed its first U.S. utility client, Eversource. The company aims to reduce interconnection queue wait times, assist in grid planning, and automate a variety of processes for the utility that would otherwise consume thousands of manhours.

“Accelerating interconnection ultimately acclerates economic development, growth, and prosperity,” Montana added.

Envelio’s secret sauce, he surmises, is its end-to-end approach that streamlines and automates as much as possible so “engineers can actually focus on what matters.”

In this video, Montana shares more insights on the IGP platform, envelio’s partnership with Clean Power Research, and more. Stick around until the end for a demonstration of the IGP from envelio’s Ashwin Bhagavan Srinivas, principle implementation specialist.
