National Commercial and Community Solar Provider Pivot Energy Invests $100,000 in Developing 50 kW Onsite Solar Array to Offer 196 kW Community Solar Subscriptions to New Affordable Multifamily Homes for Nonprofits announced that it is supporting the sustainability goals of Mile High Ministries by , Clara Brown Commons (CBC).
Mile High Ministries is building the CBC in an area northeast of Denver adjacent to some of the most polluted man-made environments in the country. This new development complex is an excellent example of community members coming together to address a broader history of environmental negligence.
Pivot Energy CEO Tom Hunt said: “We are listening to the needs of these northeast Denver communities and are optimistic that this clean energy initiative will help address the poor air quality in our neighborhood. The ministry and its partners in the city are taking action by creating sustainable and affordable projects that preserve the character of the area for future generations.”
Clara Brown Commons is named after “Aunt Clara” Brown, a pioneer, entrepreneur and philanthropist from Colorado. In addition to caring for sick and injured miners, Clara was paying for former slaves like herself to move to Colorado, attend college, and start new lives. Mile High Ministries Executive Director Jeff Johnsen said: “Their contributions will not only help reduce the environmental impact of our new complex, but more importantly, provide access to affordable clean energy for those in need. , providing the knowledge that they are included in the global fight against climate change.”
Energy from this solar array and community solar contract will help offset CBC’s electricity usage, reducing its dependence on fossil fuels for its 61 apartments, 17 townhomes, and shared gathering spaces.
