Treasury Americas, a division of Treasury Wine Estates, is expanding on-site solar power through a significant investment in renewable power, which powers each winery. Upon completion of the project, more than 60% of Treasury Americas’ electricity will come from on-site solar power, setting a record for an American wine company of its size and scale.
All Treasury Americas wineries will meet more than half of their electricity needs from on-site solar power. The new expansion will account for approximately 6.5MW. Upon completion of the project, including existing facilities, Treasury Americas’ total US electricity generation will be approximately 9.2 MW.
Treasury Americas’ long-standing commitment to renewable power began in 2008 with the installation of a solar power facility at Beringer Vineyards. As part of this new investment, the company will invest in iconic properties such as Beaulieu Vineyards in Napa Valley, Beringer Vineyards, Etude Winery, Frank Family Vineyards and TWE properties in Paso Robles and the Central Coast. Solar panels will be installed. Sterling Vineyards, which has been closed since 2020 due to damage from a devastating glass fire, is set to reopen in fall 2023 with full solar power.

“We have a responsibility to be stewards of the environment and reduce the impact of the climate crisis on our wines and communities. parts will go away,” said Will Drayton, Director of Sustainability and Science for the Americas at the Treasury Department. “Additionally, additionality is also important. Maximizing on-site solar power greens the California grid and opens the door for future developments such as on-site storage.”
The U.S. Treasury Department has contracted Shell Energy Solutions to complete the project. To further support TWE’s global net-zero efforts, Shell Energy will include management of on-site solar power generation and additional efficiency activities such as LED lighting retrofits and compressed air upgrades. We provide additional solutions.
