Freedom Solar Power has completed a 120.3 kW solar array on top of a Parkway Honda dealership in Dover, Ohio. This will save him more than $378,000 over 20 years.
“Parkway Honda’s partnership with Freedom Solar is making waves as one of Ohio’s leading solar installations in the automotive industry,” said Freedom Solar CEO Brett Biggert. “We are proud to partner with them to help make their business more energy efficient and one step closer to their sustainability goals.”
“We couldn’t be happier with the decision,” said Parkway Honda partner Mark C. Mears. “We were one of the first solar dealers in the county and are proud to be leading the way in Dover and Tuskalawa counties. In addition to reducing electricity bills, we are realizing unprecedented benefits.”
The decision to install solar power affects many components besides the price of electricity. Mears said several factors played a role in the company’s decision to proceed with the conversion to on-site power generation at Honda dealerships. Some factors include local and federal financial incentives, testimony from dealers in other parts of the state that have already transitioned, and Honda dealers not having enough roof space to house solar arrays. It includes the fact that there are their energy costs. Mears selected Freedom Solar as its solar contractor after a referral from Honda Green Dealer. The Honda Green Dealer is an initiative designed to help reduce the environmental footprint of Honda dealers independently owned and operated by Honda. As a proud participant in the Honda Green Dealer Program, Parkway Honda is committed to implementing its Green He initiative within its dealerships, including battery storage energy. Promising a cleaner, greener future, Parkway Honda is committed to reducing energy use and upgrading operations to be more sustainable.
“Solar installations have become a cost-saving strategy for entrepreneurial auto dealers and are growing rapidly among dealers nationwide,” said Biggart.
